Jeremiah 29:5
5 “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce.

Genesis 1:29
29 Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

The Garden is a place of peace for me. It's time to speak to the Lord. It's time to listen to all of nature, God's creation singing his praises. The fact that I had any garden at all our 1st year on the homestead was a blessing from above. It was not a total successful garden, but it was a great learning season, a great time for me to find relaxation, yes, I said relaxation when I garden, I relax even when I'm working. I had a lot to learn about gardening on our new homestead. It was very different from my previous gardens.  Arkansas is clay, rocks and hills. I quickly learned that raised beds are my friends, that it takes time to get the soil right, that I have a lot of growing myself to become the gardener that I want to be. I wanted instant gratification, a total bountiful growing season, but that is not what I got.  I was somewhat disappointed, impatient and wanted to say forget it, but that little inner voice in my spirit said patience.  Yes, I have so much work to do to make this garden my dream garden, yes, I really need to get the soil correct to really grow bounty, yes, I really need to get plant started correctly but last season was so beautiful to me because I was being taught to grow in Christ. Having the fruits of the spirit shine and little did I know that those growths were going to sustain me through a terrible dark year and a half. That little garden helped me through so much.  My garden grew food that allowed us to have farm to table, my garden allowed me to learn to can foods, not a lot but enough to learn. My garden allowed me to spend time with my grandchildren and teach them about growing your own food. The Garden Has been a source of JOY for me.
